 MEET Your THERAPY TEAM

Cailin Michael-Darby, MA, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist | Owner

Hi, I’m Cailin, owner and speech-language pathologist at Michael Therapy
Services, LLC. I’ve been practicing speech therapy in South Carolina for the past five years and earned my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Ohio University. I became a therapist because I’ve always had a lot to say and an even bigger heart for helping others find their voice.

While I’m the owner of Michael Therapy Services, I remain very hands-on in the clinic and maintain a full caseload, working directly with children and families every week. You’ll often see me checking in with parents, collaborating with our team and making sure each child’s therapy experience feels personal, encouraging, and fun. I believe communication is a human right and every child deserves to feel seen, heard and valued exactly as they are.

Opening a practice along the coast has always been a dream of mine. There’s something special about the sense of calm, connection and community here. I wanted to create a clinic that reflected that same feeling. Michael Therapy Services was created to be the missing piece—a place where high-quality, evidence-based therapy meets a relaxed, joyful environment, and where every child’s progress truly matters.

Outside of work, I love coastal living, spending time on the water, and trying new local food spots. I’m a major foodie, so having our office right by the waterway—surrounded by great food options—feels like the perfect fit. I’m married to my husband, Mason, and I’m a proud dog mom to three pups who keep life fun and full. When I’m not in South Carolina, I love traveling back to Ohio to spend time with family and friends who mean the world to me.

Lori Leggett

Office Manager

Hi, I’m Lori, office manager at Michael Therapy Services, LLC. I have always had a deep love for working with and around children. In my
teens, I began my 25+ year journey working as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader. I have worked in a medical management position in a pediatric office setting for over 35 years, with the last 22 of those years spent in an outpatient pediatric therapy setting.

Engaging with children, making them feel welcomed and loved, has always been incredibly important to me and has brought me so much joy. Being able to watch and encourage them as they grow to their full potential, while also providing encouragement and support to their families, is truly a privilege and a blessing. Working alongside amazing therapists, witnessing the positive impact they make in so many little lives, and providing the support and encouragement we all need is also a great privilege and a true blessing. Being an Office Manager and being referred to as the “SC Mom” by some has brought me immense joy and I wear both titles very proudly.

I have been married to my husband, Mark, for 33 years, and we have been
blessed with two wonderful sons, Brandon and Chase. We also have a precious Frenchie little girl named Lilly Rae. For the past 10 years, we have been blessed to live in our dream location near the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle Beach, SC. My two greatest treasures are my faith and my family. One of my favorite reminders to share is: “JESUS LOVES YOU!”

Judith Anne Lakawicz Losh (“Judi”)
Ph.D., SES; MS., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Hi, I'm Judi, a speech language pathologist at Michael Therapy Services, LLC. I decided I wanted to be a “speech therapist” when I was ten years old. My younger brother was in kindergarten and needed speech therapy to correct a lateral lisp. We had a busy household, and it became my “chore” to help him practice his speech homework. Over the course of the year, his speech improved, and his lateral lisp was completely corrected! Such is the power of a bossy big sister who had no real idea of what she was doing, other than constantly saying, “Do it like me!” While very few people stay with the choice of a job they make as a child, I most definitely did, and I have loved every minute of my professional journey.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from Clarion State College in Pennsylvania in May 1983 and my Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology in December 1984. Eventually, I returned to school in 2004 and earned my Ph.D. in Specialized Education Services in August 2010. I retired in June 2023 after nearly 40 years of consistent service to young children as an SLP. During my nearly 40-year career, I have worked with preschoolers, children in grades kindergarten through high school, and persons living in long-term care facilities. Additionally, I was a lecturer and eventually an assistant professor in the Birth to Kindergarten program at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. While I love being retired from full-time employment, I returned to part-time employment with Michael Therapy Services in 2024 because I realized I really missed working with young children. Working with young children and their families is my passion and fills my heart to bursting with joy.

The only facet of my life that brings me more joy than being an SLP is my family. My son and grandson live in Locust, NC. My daughter, her husband, my grandson, and granddaughter live in Lumberton, NC. In September 2025, I also adopted my doxie (beagle/dachshund mix) puppy, Nave. He is my snuggle buddy and keeps my daily life busy, busy, busy. Being a mom, Manga, and Meeka (my grandma names) fills my heart to bursting in ways I never dreamed. God is so good all the time; and all the time, God is so good!

Jessica Howell, SLPA

Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant

Hi, I’m Jessica Howell, a speech-language pathology assistant at Michael Therapy Services, LLC. I earned my Bachelor of Health Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Florida, and I’ve been fortunate to work with children and families in a variety of settings, including early intervention (birth–3), homes, preschools and private practice.

My love for communication truly began when I learned American Sign Language and experienced how powerful it can be to genuinely connect with others. That experience showed me that communication is so much more than words—it’s about helping people of all abilities feel heard, understood, and connected to the world around them. I’m certified through ASHA, licensed in South Carolina and have specialized training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), allowing me to support children with diverse communication needs.

Working with children is the most rewarding part of what I do. I’m constantly inspired by their resilience, curiosity, and excitement for learning and I strive to create a supportive, nurturing environment where each child feels comfortable expressing themselves and confident in their abilities. Helping children grow their communication skills, while celebrating their progress along the way, brings me so much joy.

Outside of work, I love spending time at the beach and traveling, including a recent trip to London that I’ll never forget. I’m also a proud mom to my daughter, Tristan, who inspires me every day and deepens my passion for helping children learn, grow, and find their voice. My family and friends mean everything to me, and I cherish any opportunity to spend time with my loved ones.

Katelyn Dinkowitz, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Hi, I’m Katelyn “Katie” Dinkowitz, a speech-language pathologist at Michael Therapy Services, LLC. I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and am licensed in the state of South Carolina. I have been practicing speech and language therapy in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the past 4 years. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a concentration in Pre-Communication Disorders from Stockton University in 2021, followed by my Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2023.

My passion for speech-language pathology began in high school after reflecting on my own experiences growing up with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), which impacted me throughout elementary, middle, and high school. Those experiences inspired me to help children build confidence and succeed through communication. I believe every child has a unique way of communicating—whether through gestures, sign language, natural speech, or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)—and I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves.

I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of a variety of communication disorders, including receptive and expressive language delays, articulation and phonological disorders, auditory processing disorder, social-pragmatic language disorders, and AAC. I also have experience supporting children with speech and language delays associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Down syndrome, Waardenburg syndrome, Angelman syndrome, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, picky eating, and developmental delays. Helping children grow their communication skills while building meaningful connections with families is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my new puppy, Jax. We love exploring nature together by going on walks around the neighborhood, local parks, and the beach. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, shopping, participating in outdoor sports, and relaxing by the pool or by the water.

Tracie Wagner, COTA/L

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Hi, I’m Tracie, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at Michael Therapy Services, LLC. I am licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina and have been practicing occupational therapy since 2001, with a strong focus on the pediatric population from birth through age 21. I earned my Associate of Applied Science degree from Rockingham Community College and began my career as a COTA/L shortly after graduation.

Originally from the High Point and Greensboro area of North Carolina, my passion for helping children began at a young age while babysitting a child with cerebral palsy. That experience sparked my interest in working with children with special abilities and ultimately led me to discover occupational therapy. Before entering the therapy field, I worked in fabric manufacturing and advanced into a management role within Research and Development. When the company relocated overseas in the late 1990s, I was given the opportunity to return to school, where aptitude testing introduced me to occupational therapy, a career path that quickly felt like the perfect fit for my skills and passion for helping others.

Throughout my career, I have remained dedicated to supporting children and families through compassionate, individualized care. I value continuous learning and enjoy expanding my skills to better support each child’s unique developmental needs. One of the most rewarding aspects of occupational therapy is helping children gain confidence, independence, and success in their everyday lives while building meaningful relationships with families along the way.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Donna, our four daughters, Nikki, Alex, Emily, and Sarah, and our four granddaughters, Emmy, Ember, Athena, and Naomi. We are a close-knit family and love spending time together, especially during summers at our home in

Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.

We also share our home with two long-haired Chihuahuas named Rango and Bella, along with a cat named Babe. In my free time, I enjoy crafting, fishing, thrift shopping, collecting Volkswagen toy cars and vans, and working on hands-on projects around the house. I’m grateful to be part of the Michael Therapy Services team and to work in a supportive, family-oriented environment that encourages both personal and professional growth.

Hailey Marrero, COTA/L

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Hi, I’m Hailey, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with Michael Therapy Services. I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including clinic, home health, daycare, and hippotherapy, allowing me to support children across many different environments and needs. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University and went on to complete my Occupational Therapy Assistant degree at Horry Georgetown Technical College.

I became an OTA because of my passion for helping children grow, gain independence, and feel confident in their everyday lives. I believe every child deserves to be supported, understood, and encouraged in a way that meets them where they are. I love finding creative, meaningful ways to help children build skills while still having fun and feeling successful.

Throughout my career, I’ve been especially passionate about advocacy and creating opportunities for children of all abilities. I’ve participated in adaptive programs such as Wheels

to Surf, and I currently serve on the board for Tidal Paws, a local nonprofit animal rescue. Being involved in both therapy and community outreach allows me to support families in a well-

rounded and impactful way.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our four dogs and cat, who keep life busy and full of joy. I love being outdoors—whether that’s horseback riding, exploring nature, or simply enjoying time outside. Growing up in South Carolina has shaped my love for community, and I’m grateful to continue serving families in a place that feels like home.

Emilee "Emmie" Hinton, OTD, OTR/L Occupational Therapist

Hi, I’m Emmie, an occupational therapist at Michael Therapy Services, LLC. I have been a pediatric occupational therapist for 3 years, and working with children has always been my passion. I decided to pursue occupational therapy after my boyfriend’s niece, who is now my own niece, was diagnosed with autism. While shadowing at an outpatient pediatric clinic, I began informally working on her play and social participation skills, and from that moment on, I knew pediatric occupational therapy was the perfect fit for me.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2020 and my Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree in 2023, both from the University of Findlay in northwestern Ohio. My professional experience includes working in outpatient pediatric therapy clinics, where I have supported children with a variety of developmental and sensory needs. We are high school sweethearts and were married in 2024. Living near the beach has always been a dream of mine, and I am so grateful to now call the coast home.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time by the ocean or pool, going on walks, and golfing with my husband. We also recently adopted an adorable mini goldendoodle puppy named Poppy, who keeps us busy and entertained. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be part of the Michael Therapy Services team and look forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in this community.

 MEET Your THERAPY Dogs

dog with bandana

Hi, I'm Lady!

paw print

I’m a 12-year-old schnauzer and one of the therapy dogs here at the office. I was rescued after being found as a stray and spent almost a year in a shelter before finding my forever home. I may not have any teeth, and I’m partially blind and deaf, but that actually helps me do my job even better.

I provide calm, gentle support during speech therapy sessions. My quiet presence helps children feel safe, regulated, and more comfortable, which can reduce anxiety and increase engagement in therapy. Many children find it easier to communicate, participate, and try new skills when I’m nearby.

I’m known as the office cuddle bug, and I take that role seriously. Whether a child needs comfort, encouragement, or a calming break, I’m always happy to help create a positive, welcoming therapy environment.

If you’re looking for a little extra reassurance during your session, I’ll be right there with you.

Hi, I'm Dolly!

I’m a wiener dog puppy and one of the therapy dogs in training here at the office. I’m still learning the ropes, but I already take my job very seriously—especially when it comes to spreading joy and making friends.

I’m known as the office social butterfly. I love playing fetch, giving kisses, and helping kids feel excited and motivated to come to therapy. My playful energy helps build rapport, encourages interaction, and supports social communication skills in a natural, fun way. Many children are more willing to participate, take turns, and communicate when we’re playing together.

I help make therapy feel less like work and more like fun. If you see a wagging tail and a happy face ready to play, that’s probably me!

Hi, I'm Kaiah!

I’m a 6-year-old English bulldog–beagle mix and one of the therapy pups here at the office. I love being around people, and when I’m feeling especially happy, you’ll often find me wiggling my whole body as I move around the clinic. On quieter days, you might catch me curled up taking a nap—or even snoring—while keeping a calm, comforting presence nearby.

I have a gentle, loving personality and naturally gravitate toward anyone who might be having a tough day. I’m known for curling up right beside children when they need extra comfort and offering plenty of affection to help them feel safe, supported, and regulated during therapy sessions.

My calm demeanor and steady companionship help create a welcoming, relaxed environment where children can feel at ease, build trust, and stay engaged. Whether it’s through quiet cuddles, soft snuggles, or simply being close by, I help make therapy feel a little more comforting and a lot more loving.

If you need a friend to sit with you, share some extra love, or help brighten your day, I’ll be right there for you.
